Stress or Stressed

Being stressed in not a good way to gain inspiration or invite the muse to visit you. It fogs up your brain and stretches you to your emotional limit. It puts strain on your physical health and does nothing for mental health. The best thing to write while stressed is journal entries, which have been proven to help decrease stress. Exercise is another way to decrease stress and get back on an even keel. Decreasing the stress will help to get inspiration to return and invite the muse to come back to visit.

There is only one time when stress is good for writing and that is when a deadline approaches. Deadlines have this ability to inspire creativity and get energy going to the fingers in ways that only flow is able to do otherwise. Deadlines have an almost magical quality to them in what they are able to help a person do when stressed, which is why NaNoWriMo is so popular. This kind of stress is good in some ways, as long as it gets you moving. If it causes freezing and feelings of panic, you should probably not wait till the last minute before working on something. Because being stressed is not good for writing, but a little stress is okay.
