Pop Fiction Contest

Lit-N-Laughter has a contest going in an effort to generate funds and advertising for the company. The Pop Fiction Contest is currently set to have the winner of the contest get half the money from the two dollar entry fee. All a person has to do is write a thousand word story in the genre specified on the home page of the contest site, which is

This contest is also supposed to be fun. The entry fee is merely so that there is a prize for the winner, though should the company start making money the entry fee may be eliminated. Until then two dollars Canadian is a low entry fee.

The contest started accepting entries on March 15th and the deadline is September 30th with a short list announced a little while later. The winner will be announced November 15st and the winning entry posted on the website.

All the rules are on the website and there is also a link to the contest’s website from the website. And hopefully there will be more news from Lit-N-Laughter soon.

New Start

October of last year one of the partners in Mantler Publishing left the company and caused some rethought along with some reorganization. So, Mantler Publishing has been disbanded and a new publishing company had grown out of it. Lit-N-Laughter has changed its focus. Mantler Publishing was putting out a broad range of material, while Lit-N-Laughter is focusing on light and fluffy books.

We have changed our Smashwords account and Facebook page to the new name and description. Lit-N-Laughter has its own webpage at

There are still some things we are sorting out, but those might take a while to settle out. We are not yet ready to accept full novel submissions yet, however there are a few other things we are looking for. I wrote a post about some of what we are looking for. Hopefully we will get to the point where we are accepting submissions.

So, keep any eye out for future Lit-N-Laughter titles, which should be coming out over the next while.

2015 So Far

I said in my last post that I would try to post weekly and then life happened. So I apologize for not keeping my word. I don’t seem to be getting much done these days as there is always another distraction. Like moving. I went from settled in an apartment that was a little cramped to moving into a townhouse in less than a month. There are still a few things to unpack and make things livable again, otherwise that is going fine.

Then there was my book launch the weekend after the moving of the big furniture. It went well, but mental preparation takes energy from other things. And I was stressing out about whether anyone would show up at all.

Now I was thinking I could get back to work when another stressor was dropped in my lap with no warning. And when something causes that much stress other things pop up to cause more stress, which lands me close to a break down. My mental health is improving, but lots of days feels like a balloon with a pin at ready.

So, that is all why I haven’t gotten to weekly posts for this year despite wanting to write them and put them up. I am hoping that things settle down and the stress levels off soon and I can go back to writing, editing, and putting up posts.
